Pacifist Definition: A person who believes violence is not a means of conflict resolution. The pacifist is anti war and has no enemy, but instead sees a human being with needs. With a focus on diplomacy and connection, a pacifist looks for creative and non violent ways to achieve peace whether the conflict is large or small. A pacifist does NOT believe in “doing nothing”. Doing nothing is not a solution, a true pacifist understands peace comes only through action and to work for peace one must first be peace .

Jesus is a pacifist because much of his teachings also instruct followers on pracitical means non violent resistance.

The teaching of non violent resistance made Jesus an enemy of the Roman Empire the religious leaders of the church. Yet even on the cross quotes Jesus , “forgive them for they know not what they do.” The life of Jesus , his actions of love when he was faced with violence, and his actions of love on the cross make him the definition of a pacifist.
